What is PRP treatment?

Platelet-rich plasma treatment begins with a small blood sample. The sample is processed in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma, which is then injected into the selected treatment area. GB Clinics uses ultrasound guidance where appropriate to support accurate placement.

Conditions the clinic assesses for PRP

PRP is not suitable for every patient or every condition. A clinician will review your symptoms, health history and any relevant imaging before discussing whether it is an appropriate option.

  • Selected cases of mild to moderate joint osteoarthritis
  • Chronic tendon problems such as tennis elbow or Achilles tendinopathy
  • Selected ligament, muscle and other soft-tissue injuries
  • Persistent plantar fascia pain where clinically appropriate

What to expect

Assessment
The clinician first confirms the likely source of the problem and discusses the available treatment options.
Blood preparation
A small blood sample is taken and processed to prepare the platelet-rich plasma.
Guided treatment
The prepared PRP is delivered to the selected area, using ultrasound guidance where clinically appropriate.
Aftercare
You receive individual aftercare and activity advice, with rehabilitation discussed as part of the wider plan.

Important suitability considerations

Because PRP is a clinical procedure, the decision to treat is made individually. Active infection, some blood or platelet disorders, medication and other health factors may affect suitability. Your clinician will discuss risks, alternatives and expected recovery before treatment.
